Frances Downey Reinhold was born in Marietta, Pa., in 1900 to Edwin B. and Adele Downey Reinhold. She and her family relocated to Springfield, Ohio, soon afterwards. She is believed to have attended local schools and graduated both from Beachwood Junior College (Beachwood, Ohio) and New Bern College.
